Educational project

SEK International School Guatemala

The SEK International Institution, founded in 1892, is an educational organization that encompasses infant, primary and secondary education in international schools and higher education on our university campuses.

All SEK schools and campuses are accredited in their countries, which are currently 26 schools in Spain, Chile, Portugal, Romania, Guatemala, Hungary, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Paraguay, the Dominican Republic, South Africa, England, Mexico, Colombia, and the United States, as well as 2 universities in Chile and Ecuador and 1 center for advanced studies.

Our mission is to provide innovative education, through a personalized approach and an international focus, with special emphasis on the personal growth of students.

Our mission statement is made up of the following concepts:

Our mission statement is a proposal to stipulate, in specific activities, the goal of education, which is one of the basic rights of all human beings, according to the United Nations (and other international organizations) and appears in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Declaration of the Rights of the Child.

Education must provide the means for each student to achieve their best results and develop their full potential. Each student is special and unique, as is their potential and what they can achieve throughout their lives.

This Mission Statement contains three vital elements:

The definition of the character of each student in the search for their own identity will be reinforced.

The policy of the educational process or curricular plan, which is a sequence of school tasks, will allow a broad knowledge of the world and of oneself.

The educational environment and the characteristics of each school must build a cultural atmosphere that forms an integrated system of learning and desirable behavior. Our mission statement is based on a particular philosophical foundation: what it means to be human and our way of life as humans. From a cultural interpretation, what our personal progress and social development mean for us. Finally, from an educational perspective, learning has intrinsic values and, with the correct use of technology, these values can be integrated into the learners’ own set of values.

Our mission statement recognizes freedom and creative intelligence as its core; order and institutionalization as vital social processes, as well as ethics and helping others as processes that give meaning to life.

The character that the Institution tries to establish among our students is called the SEK style. This character refers to the aspiration of a cultured person who constantly seeks personal and social improvement.

Our curriculum is made up of curricula from each of our different schools, and each school continues to improve its existing curriculum

SEK school methodologies encourage individual and group work, as well as open, flexible, and participatory learning, which is based on the homeroom model and the implementation of technology in the classroom. This personalized teaching system allows unparalleled support for the student, and from a human perspective, personal support can be found not only in our classrooms, but also in our school textbooks, libraries, sports facilities, after-school workshops, and cafeterias.
