SEK International School Guatemala

Parent Committees

The SEK International Institution, through Colegio Internacional SEK Guatemala, aims to strengthen communication among all members of the educational community and facilitate the feasibility of activities by proposing the organization of a series of committees:

  • Social Activities Committee: Its objective is to organize, inside or outside the school, activities that, as parents of students, they propose and find suitable to promote family interaction. The school will support these initiatives by providing the necessary physical spaces and appropriate resources for their execution.
  • Family Sports Committee: The members of this committee will be responsible for organizing various sports competitions in which both students and parents participate.
  • Professional Committee: The purpose is to periodically bring together a group of parents who represent various fields of the professional world to inform and help our students better understand the requirements and characteristics of different professions.

We look forward to your active collaboration and invite you to participate in the initiatives scheduled for this academic year.

Tutorials

Guidance in both the academic field and the personal development of children, adolescents, and young people is of vital importance for their proper personal growth. For this reason, the school has established the Tutorial System as the optimal approach to ensure appropriate guidance and monitoring of its students, with tutors being the responsible figures for this orientation, proper advising, and effective communication between the family and the school.

According to our Educational Project, the most sensitive role in the educational process is fulfilled by the tutor, who, after thoroughly understanding the essence and methodology of the institution’s teaching and learning processes, becomes the link between the student, their teachers, and their parents.

Therefore, based on the student’s needs and their educational cycle, parents will be invited to meet with the tutor approximately three times throughout the year. The frequency of these meetings may vary depending on the student’s needs and the extent to which the family has maintained frequent communication with the tutor through other means provided by the school, such as the school agenda and emails.

With the commitment to provide you with a group of highly qualified teachers, we are pleased to inform you of the names of the tutors assigned to your children for the current academic year and the days they will be available to meet with you. You may also request these meetings through the school agenda whenever you deem necessary.

Likewise, Mrs. Cecilia González, Preschool Education Coordinator, and Mrs. Arely Leiva Contreras, Head of Studies, as well as the General Director, will be available for any concerns or questions you may wish to raise.
